Welcome Letter for Parents
August 15, 2006
Dear Parents,
Welcome to our fifth grade class, Room 411 at Henryville Elementary
School. We have a very exciting year ahead of us! Before I go any further
let me first introduce myself. I am Gary Norrington. I grew up in New Albany
and still live there with my wife and step daughter. I also have a son who
is currently in the Navy and two step-sons that are in the Navy. I graduated from New Albany High
School in 1976 and enlisted in the Navy in the Fall of that year. I retired
from the Navy in 1997 with 20 years of service and went on to pursue my
Teaching Degree at Indiana University Southeast. This is my second year at
Henryville. The previous three years I was the Technology Coordinator/Computer Teacher at a Catholic Elementary
school in Louisville. I love computers and I love teaching. I hope to share
my love of teaching and some of my computer knowledge with your child.
I realize that teaching your child is a privilege as well as a tremendous
responsibility. I will do my best this year to ensure that each student has
a motivating and safe learning experience in the classroom. However, I
cannot do this alone: I need your help. We both need to be partners in the
learning process. I need each of you to encourage your child at home by
helping to ensure that they have completed their assignments, and help them
study for quizzes, if necessary.
I will keep you informed of all assignments and subjects that are covered
in class with a weekly summary.
I know with your help we are going to have great year!
Sincerely,
Gary Norrington
